Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM):
In the engineering industry, this machining technology is also referred to simply as WEDM machining (Wire Electric Discharge Machining). A wire cutter is a machine, now fully controlled by a 64-bit control system, which processes an imported NC programme and, based on this, continuously machines in four axes simultaneously (the X and Y axes, and the U and V axes, which tilt the upper head relative to the lower head for angular cutting). The working tool of this machine is a wire (specially manufactured for this purpose), which is unwound and effectively cuts its way through the material along a programmed path. The entire workpiece is immersed in a water bath, and water is also fed to the wire under high pressure to cool the wire in the spark gap (as the spark reaches a temperature of 1400–1600 °C, the wire would immediately burn through and snap). The machine is capable of working with an accuracy of thousandths of a millimetre, achieving a surface finish of up to 0.02 Ra (depending on the generator modification).

It belongs to the latest series of FANUC ROBOCUT α-CiC wire-cut EDM machines. With this model range, wire-cut EDM has reached a new stage of development and offers a significant competitive advantage.
Thanks to a number of groundbreaking improvements, it offers an even higher level of reliability, cutting speed, surface finish and dimensional accuracy. Among the many innovations and improvements are a completely new mechanical structure with greater frame rigidity and more compact external dimensions, temperature compensation across the entire cutting range, a redesigned and easier-to-adjust angular cutting function, and a hardened table as standard.

We use an EDM drilling machine as a supporting technology:
3) SY-2030A electro-erosion drilling machine, table size: 210 × 460 mm; Max. workpiece weight:
200 kg; max. travel on X, Y and Z axes: 300 × 200–345 mm; electrode diameter: 0.2–3 mm
This machine offers high performance, particularly when drilling hardened steels and cemented carbides with diameters of 0.2–3 mm. The machine is primarily used as a supplementary tool for drilling pilot holes for EDM cutters. It is also easy to drill into contoured surfaces. This drill can be used to drill into all conductive materials, regardless of their hardness. It is ideal, for example, for removing broken tools, screws, pins, etc.
